Untitled-4Ultra Low VOC – The“GREEN”Choice for Professional Painted Glass Installations

With today’s trends gearing towards sustainable, cost-effective, safe and environment-friendly products, the LEED Compliant, Ultra Low VOC – Gunther Premier Plus® is now in the Philippines.

One primary factor which affects the overall performance of painted glass is the adhesive used in its installation. Painted glass has been known to be susceptible to chemical reactions when installed with incompatible products. Majority of product defects such as discoloration, peeling and cracking can be avoided through proper and careful handling from storage to installation.

What are Volatile Organic Compounds?

VOCs are carbon-based chemicals that easily evaporate at room temperature and are commonly referred to as solvents. They can degrade air quality, produce odors and contribute to smog. Many VOCs are also hazardous air pollutants. They are found in everyday household items and build up easily within an indoor environment where it becomes a health hazard. New construction and renovation of homes and buildings lead to an accumulation of VOCs within enclosed spaces, thus accounting for higher levels of VOCs indoors compared to outdoors.

What are the health effects of VOCs?

The primary route of exposure is by breathing in these gases. At low to medium levels, the health effects range from sensory irritation such as runny nose, irritated eyes, throat and skin. Other immediate symptoms include headache, nausea and dizziness, as well as fatigue and shortness of breath. Certain VOCs are known to have toxic effects such as cancer, mutations, and other undesirable health consequences at high exposure levels. In contrast, low-VOC materials such as Gunther Premier Plus® are formulated to reduce “off-gassing” of hazardous and potentially flammable vapour emissions. They benefit the health of those individuals installing such materials in addition to the long-term advantages to the building occupants through improved indoor air quality. Low VOC products protect the environment by reducing the creation of photochemical smog in the atmosphere which is harmful to humans, animals, plants and the nature as a whole.
